It is scientifically proven that cultures eating a good diet, rich in vegetables, pulses and simple grains, have some of the best health and longevity globally - this is how we cook.
In any given week, children enjoying our meals will eat over 30 different fruit and vegetables and at least seven different grains, pulses, seeds and other legumes, providing them with great sources of protein, fibre, complex carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins and antioxidants.
Parents appreciate and love that the children eat such a variety of vegetables and wholefoods at nursery.
Cooking for little children means we think about their future and take very seriously the challenge of making as little environmental impact as possible. Producing plant-based foods requires less land, fewer resources and results in vastly fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

Further information
-
We only use extra virgin olive oil, virgin olive oil and extra virgin rapeseed oil (cold pressed) in our cooking.
-
Salt - instead of using shop-bought, pre-prepared or processed stock cubes, which often contain high levels of salt, we make our own stock from scratch, which does include a minimal amount of salt. No further salt is added to our meals, meeting Early Years government guidelines.
Sugar – our hand-baked cookies are packed full of fruit, vegetables and seeds and sweetened with bananas and a small amount of unrefined cane sugar.
-
Meals are cooked gently in oil, nothing is fried or roasted.
Our cookies are lightly baked until a pale golden colour.
-
We package our food in compostable, kraft cartons and reusable, PP (BPA free) packaging which is easily recycled. The boxes are delivered in reusable mesh bags - we avoid using single use plastic wherever we can.
There is little to no food wastage as meals are packed to your exact numbers.
Any food waste produced during production is taken to Wimbledon Guild Community Garden and composted in their veg garden.
We donate surplus meals to Merton’s Community Fridge.
-
You will need a hob or microwave, a fridge and a freezer.
