Two Teaspoons is a small, specialist catering company providing meals for Forest Schools and Early Years settings across London and Surrey. We have nearly a decade’s experience in providing exceptional quality, delicious and healthy vegetarian meals for Early Years children.

We're looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team and help us prepare and deliver meals for young children.

The role

As a Kitchen Assistant, reporting to the Kitchen Manager, you'll support the kitchen team with food preparation, cleaning, packing meals and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. This is a hands-on role in a busy kitchen where teamwork, attention to detail and a positive attitude are essential.

Hours: 16hrs per week, across 4 days. Location: Two Teaspoons Ltd, 19A Camp Road, SW19 4UW

Key responsibilities

  • Preparing packaging, helping with portioning and packing meals for delivery

  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen

  • Washing up and putting away, cleaning the kitchen and equipment

  • Consistently following food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures

  • Food preparation, cooking and packaging

  • Receiving and storing deliveries correctly

  • Assisting with stock rotation and organisation

  • Supporting the wider team wherever needed

A typical day might include, helping finish the cook of the day, cleaning up and prepping packaging. Helping while the food is portioned and packed and keeping the kitchen clean. Washing up and cleaning the equipment, pans, hobs and cleaning and sanitising surfaces. Labelling the food. Once the cooking is finished helping with preparation for the following day. Organising the stock room, receiving deliveries and rotating stock. Putting the cooked food away. You might also help with packing the food for the nurseries, ready for deliveries the next day.

Skills and experience

  • Previous kitchen, catering or food preparation experience

  • Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering preferred, (full training will be provided)

  • Two references required
